About the author:

Dr. John C. Sanford has been a professor at Cornell University (in New York) for over 25 years. His doctoral dissertation was on plant breeding and plant genetics. John has published over 80 scientific articles and books and has received over 30 government patents. His most important scientific contributions involve three innovations: biological processes (“gene guns”), pathogen-derived resistance, and genetic immunization. A large percentage of the genetically modified crops grown in the world today are genetically engineered using the “gene gun” technology developed by John and his collaborators.
